SIZZURP….OFF THE MARKET OR NAH?!?

Published April 25, 2014 by sheezacoldpiece

For those who are unfamiliar with this drug of choice for many rappers among others, here’s the wikipedia definition of sizzurp:

Purple drank is a slang term for a concoction which includes a prescription-strength cough syrup used in a manner inconsistent with its labeling, as a recreational drug. The mixture became popular in the hip hop community in the southern United States, originating in Houston.[1]

The prescription-strength cough syrup used in purple drank contains codeine and promethazine (not to be confused with dextromethorphan; DXM).[2] The cough syrup, used in doses much higher than medically recommended, is typically mixed with ingredients such as the soft drink Sprite or Mountain Dew and optionally “a Jolly Rancher hard fruit candy thrown in for extra sweetness.”[1] The purplish hue of purple drank comes from dyes in the cough syrup. The amount of cough syrup used “can exceed up to 25 times the recommended dose.”[3] The concoction is “Typically consumed out of Styrofoam cups”.[3]

There are numerous slang terms for purple drank, including sizzurpleansyrupdrankbarrepurple jellyTexas tea, and Tsikuni.

Well according to a Rep for Actavis, the product is being pulled from shelves.  Se the details below according to TMZ –

A rep for Actavis — famous for the highly-refined cough syrup — tells TMZ, “Given [recent media attention], Actavis has made the bold and unprecedented decision to cease all production and sales of its Promethazine Codeine product.”

As we reported, Bieber loves the stuff … as does Soulja Boy, who regularly posts pictures of Actavis bottles on his Instagram.

The Actavis rep adds, “This attention has glamorized the unlawful and dangerous use of the product, which is contrary to its approved indication.”

Before Actavis pulled the plug on the product, the street value of a pint bottle hovered around $800 — but sources familiar with the market tell TMZ, rappers are now offering insane sums to buy up whatever’s left. We’re told one prominent rapper has already offered his dealer up to $100,000 to get whatever he can.

All this means is it will be released on the “black” market and be sold for an even more ridiculous amount than it is now.  These fiends will find a way to get it, or find a new replacement.  Either way it’s sad so many are hooked on this stuff.

Tonight Actress Taraji Henson, showed up and showed out on the red carpet for the premiere of her new film “From The Rough” showing in theaters April 25th.

20140423-195157.jpg

Here’s the films synopsis: From the Rough, starring Academy Award nominees Taraji P. Henson and Michael Clarke Duncan and Tom Felton, is the inspirational true story of Catana Starks from historically black university Tennessee State, who became the first African-American woman ever to coach an all-men’s team at the collegiate level. Through grit and determination, she overcame incredible odds and deep-seated prejudice from all corners to guide a rag-tag group of golfers to an all-time record championship season.

Now this seems like it will be a great film, and I really love it when a film is based on a true story, so very inspiring. Rest in Peace to late great Michael Clarke Duncan. I’m happy whenever I see him on the screen. Check out the trailer for the movie below, and will you go see it?

FASHION INDUSTRY SET TO BOYCOTT DORCHESTER COLLECTION HOTELS OVER ANTI-GAY LAWS IN BRUNEI

Published April 23, 2014 by sheezacoldpiece

Influential members of the fashion community are calling for a boycott of the Beverly Hills Hotel, as well as other properties owned by the Dorchester Collection, due to recently passed laws in the sultanate of Brunei to which the company has ties. (Matt Sayles / Associated Press)

One of my favorite shoe designers Brian Atwood and others are taking a stand against the investors behind the Dorchester Collection Hotels since they support a new Anti Gay law in Brunei which as of April 22nd, 2014 increases the penalty for committing a homosexual act from 10 years imprisonment to being stoned to death.  Obviously since the fashion community has an overwhelming amount of gay talent, this has cause quite a stir and now a boycott of some very high end Luxury Hotels.  Here’s how the story is being reported according to the LA TIMES.

By Adam Tschorn

Is this the end of designer dinners at the Hotel Bel-Air and charity fashion shows at the Beverly Hills Hotel?

If high-profile members of the fashion community have their way, maybe.

Several vocal personalities, including Decades boutique co-owner Cameron Silver and designers Brian Atwood and Peter Som have taken to social media to call for a boycott of the Beverly Hills Hotel and a host of other high-end Dorchester Collection properties around the globe with ties to the sultanate of Brunei. (The Dorchester Collection is owned by the Brunei Investment Agency, an arm of the Brunei government that manages the oil-rich country’s luxury hotels in Europe and the U.S.)

Silver told the Los Angeles Times that the boycott was in response to a recent law taking effect this month that increases the punishment for committing a homosexual act from a 10-year prison sentence to death by stoning.

“The fashion industry and its supporters are unified in boycotting these properties,” Silver said Tuesday afternoon, “Brian Atwood, Bryan Boy, Valentino, etc. … all have taken to our social media.”

Silver said the free-form protest started to gather steam Sunday night. “There was no sort of unified group, everyone was just sort of paying attention to it. Someone mentioned it to me while I was in New York on Sunday, I looked up an article [about the new law] and then posted something. [Valentino PR Director] Carlos Souza reposted it and then it was reposted by [Valentino’s longtime business partner] Giancarlo [Giammetti] and it just sort of grew from there.”

Most Instagram and Twitter mentions on the subject lead back to shoe designer Atwood’s Instagram post of April 21 that reads as follows:

“Don’t stay at the Principe di Savoia, Le Meurice, or the Dorchester during Milan, Paris or London fashion week’s [sic] this June to October.

Send a clear signal to their owner, The Sultan of Brunei, that stoning people to death for being gay in Brunei is not acceptable.

His new law comes into effect tomorrow April 22. Why not cancel your bookings tomorrow?”

Atwood did not immediately return an email seeking comment on the call to boycott.

Silver said he hoped the action would raise awareness. “I doubt it will have enough clout to change this Draconian law in Brunei,” he said. “But I think that it just makes us more aware of where we’re spending our money – it makes me very conscious of who owns what. I knew nothing about it – I knew [the Sultan] owned the Dorchester Properties but wasn’t aware that the new law was being implemented. And these are a lot of very fashiony properties. If tastemakers stop going to those properties, that’s [the kind of thing] that does make a difference.”

Silver added that the boycott of the Beverly Hills Hotel, which has hosted fashion events for the Yves Saint Laurent brand and the Metropolitan Museum of Art‘s Costume Institute among others, resonated with him on several levels. “I’m sure there’s an issue with practically anything we spend money on,” he acknowledged, “But this is a very public thing – and it’s the hotel  that I grew up at so it’s a little more sensitive [for me]. I live down the block – it’s like my backyard.”

In a request for comment on the boycott, the hotel emailed the following statement attributed to Leslie Lefkowitz, a public relations consultant for the Beverly Hills Hotel and Hotel Bel-Air: “We continue to abide by the laws of the countries we operate in and do not tolerate any form of discrimination of any kind. The laws that exist in other countries outside of where Dorchester Collection operates do not affect the policies that govern how we run our hotels. Dorchester Collection’s Code, endorsed by the company’s ownership, emphasizes equality, respect and integrity in all areas of our operation, and strongly values people and cultural diversity amongst our guests and employees.”

In addition to those two properties, the other properties in the Dorchester Collection portfolio include the Principe de Savoia in Milan and the Meurice in Paris, both of which are fashion industry favorites during the biannual fashion weeks.

The hotel group also bestows a fashion prize of its own. Established in 2010, the annual Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize was created, according to its website, “to discover emerging fashion talent and build on Dorchester Collection’s own established fashion heritage.” Touted as “the first award of its kind developed by a luxury hotel company,” the 2013 winner of the prize was designer Huishan Zhang.

Times Fashion Critic Booth Moore contributed to this report.

Wow.

On a lighter note, check out why I love and live for Brian Atwood:

“SISTERHOOD OF HIP HOP” NEW OXYGEN SERIES PRODUCED BY T.I. “TIP” HARRIS

Published April 22, 2014 by sheezacoldpiece

T.I. has definitely made a mark in the world of reality television with his hit VH1 show T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle. The Atlanta rapper is now working as an executive producer for a new series Oxygen titled Sisterhood of Hip Hop. The show is part of a new shift in programming from the cable network that Oprah Winfrey built, which is looking to attract younger women to its channel.

Oxygen made the announcement earlier this week on its blog, and explains the concept behind Sisterhood of Hip Hop in brief. From Oxygen: With Grammy-Award winning recording artist T.I. as Executive Producer, this powerful and uplifting series follows the next generation of female hip-hop artists Siya, Nyemiah Supreme, Diamond, Brianna Perry and Bia as they live, love and work towards their dream of becoming the next big breakout star, which has always been a man’s game and these ladies are rewriting the rules of the music scene. Discovered and mentored by hip-hop icons, these creative and ambitious women are making it while breaking boundaries and defying doubters.

The announcement of Sisterhood of Hip Hop is a bit of a coup for T.I. and his family, considering that his wife Tiny and her hairdresser and best friend Shekinah will also get their own reality series as well. Sisterhood of Hip Hop will debut later this year. In the meantime, check out pics of each lady below…

NICKI MINAJ SLAYS THE RED CARPET AT PREMIER FOR HER NEW MOVIE “THE OTHER WOMAN”

Well good googoly moogoly would you look at Nicki Minaj!  She managed to be the show stopper at the premier of her new movie “The Other Woman” Monday night at The Regency Village Theatre in Los Angeles.  The cream knitted dress she’s wearing is by Alexander McQueen ($2,835) and hugs her curves just right. You can’t help but look at her and say “Get it BITCH!” She killed the carpet and looks amazing without the wigs and costume foolery.

The rapper-turned-actress was there to promote the upcoming romantic comedy alongside Cameron Diaz, Kate Upton and Leslie Mann. The movie hits theaters April 25th so be sure to check it out, along with more pics of Miss Nicki.

MIMI AND NIKKO SCANDAL IN ATLANTA SEX TAPE REVIEW *NSFW*

Published April 21, 2014 by sheezacoldpiece

What a major disappointment this was to watch.  First off it was very mediocre, regular couple sex.  This tape should be called Snooze in Atlanta, because I found myself fast forwarding through most of the video.  Mimi needs to attend a how to bounce on a dick classes, because her reverse cowgirl is pitiful.  If I had to give it a grade it would get a D+ at best.  Do not expect to see hardcore fu%king and sucking in this video. Expect more love making I wanna be pretty and dramatic for the camera type action, which bored me to sleep.  The power of editing is so misleading, I want my 30 minutes of life back, but aye, at least I didn’t pay for this garbage.  Here are some pics below of Mimi and her man Limp Noodle in action:

LOVE AND HIP HOP LA CAST LINE UP

Published April 21, 2014 by sheezacoldpiece

20140421-132203.jpg

The foolery will go down in L.A. with a not so interesting cast. Love & Hip Hop L.A. started filming March 31st and the cast will be as follows: Ray J, Omarion, Yung Berg, Teairra Marí (Ray J’s Ex), Princess Love (Ray J’s current girlfriend), Yesi Ortiz (Power 106 DJ) Morgan Hardman (Ray J’s assistant), Miss Joie (Bow Wow’s baby mother) and Apryl Jones (Omarion’s baby mother).

This is a weak ass cast. Ray J will be getting credit as Executive Producer, so this has to be why half the cast is connected to him. It just really seems like what’s the point of even watching these irrelevant folks on t.v. I just might tune in for one episode just to see how it goes, but I’m so not excited about this.

Word is Omarion’s relationship with his male assistant is very suspect, and they seem like more of a couple than him and his child’s mom. Also the drama will unfold between Teairra Marí and Princess Love over Ray J *womp* *side eye* *yawn* will you be watching……

ACTRESS KEKE PALMER GETS HER OWN TALK SHOW!

Published April 21, 2014 by sheezacoldpiece

20140421-125438.jpg

The beautiful young actress Keke Palmer is making history becoming the youngest talk show host with her very own show. With the help of Judge Mathis, Keke’s show will be airing on BET Networks with an initial 4 week run. Here are the details below from Deadline.com

EXCLUSIVE: BET Networks is targeting millenials with a new daily talk show hosted by actress-singer Keke Palmer. The Keke Palmer Project (working title), which has been picked up for an initial four-week run, will premiere in July, airing Mondays-Fridays.

20140421-130313.jpg

Telepictures is producing. Judge Greg Mathis, whose long-time syndicated court show Judge Mathis is produced by Telepictures, is executive producing after being instrumental in bringing together the Warner Bros TV syndication division and Palmer.
At age 20, Palmer will become the youngest talk show host in TV history. Her show will cover such topics as fashion, pop culture, social issues, sex, and will feature celebrity interviews, “on the street” bits and undercover segments. It stems from Palmer’s interaction with fans on social media. “I like to read quotes that touch on how I am feeling,” she said. “If I am dealing with confusion, I will read quotes about clarity and peace of mind. I started posting these quotes on my Twitter page, and the fans responded so positively! I realized that many of them were dealing with similar issues, and the quotes helped to open up a genuine dialogue between us.”
At BET, Keke Palmer Project, from Mathis Prods in association with Telepictures, will join two syndicated daily talk shows that have a network window there, veteran The Wendy Williams Show and recently picked-up The Queen Latifah Show. Additionally, BET recently announced the acquisition of Telepictures’ upcoming syndicated panel talk show The Real, which is set to debut this fall. In success, Keke Palmer Project could take the opposite route, with a syndication rollout joining the BET run a possibility.
Palmer burst onto the scene at age 12 when she played the title role in the 2006 movie Akeelah And The Bee. She went on to topline her own series, Nickelodeon comedy True Jackson, VP. Palmer, repped by Laron Entertainment, WME and Hertz, Lichtenstein & Young, next stars in the Drew Barrymore-produced horror film Animal, has a six-episode arc on Showtime’s Masters Of Sex, and co-stars in the Latifah–produced Brotherly Love and in the indie Imperial Dreams, which premiered at Sundance.

Way to go judge for supporting our youth and lifting them up to make history and do great things. Keke is a amazing talent and I’m sure she’ll be stellar as a host. Congrats Keke and I’m looking forward to seeing your show.
