Looking like he raided a pimps closet in the dark and got dressed. Men wearing Capri leggings, a fur vest over a Versace blouse with Crystal studded happy face pointed toe loafers is a NO! Red Flag on the play! Stop this mess 🚫. I don’t approve, but I’m sure it makes no difference to him. Yikes!
Many of the medical breakthroughs you read and hear about today are largely due to one relatively unknown Black woman: Henrietta Lacks. It is because of her cells that some of the most dangerous diseases and outbreaks have been avoided or stopped. And it all started with a pain in her stomach.
On January 29, 1951, Lacks went to Johns Hopkins Hospital because she felt a “knot” inside of her. She had told her cousins about the knot, and they automatically assumed correctly that she was pregnant. But after giving birth to Joseph, Henrietta started bleeding abnormally and profusely. Her local doctor tested her for syphilis, which came back negative, and referred her to Johns Hopkins hospital.
Johns Hopkins was their only choice for a hospital since it was the only one near them that treated black patients. Howard W. Jones, her new doctor, examined Henrietta and the lump in her cervix. He cut off a small part of the tumor and sent it to the pathology lab. Soon after, Lacks was told that she had a malignant epidermoid carcinoma of the cervix. But later in 1970, colleagues writing a tribute discovered that Lacks’ cancer had been misdiagnosed and was actually an adenocarcinoma of the cervix. This was a common mistake at the time and the treatment would not have changed.
Lacks was treated with radium tube inserts, which were sewn in place. After several days in place, the tubes were removed and she was discharged from Johns Hopkins with instructions to return for X-ray treatments as a follow-up. During her radiation treatments for the tumor, two samples of Henrietta’s cervix were removed—a healthy part and a cancerous part—without her permission. The cells from her cervix were given to Dr. George Otto Gey. These cells eventually became the HeLa immortal cell line, a commonly used cell line in biomedical research.
These cells were the first ever immortal human cell line. An endless source of identical cells that is still around today.
Thanks to HeLa cells we now have a vaccine for HPV (Not very effective)
Thanks to HeLa cells, the polio epidemic was defeated in 1960’s
Thanks to HeLa cells, we now have breakthroughs in HIV, measles, mumps, and ebola.
Normal cells are able to reproduce usually up to about 50 times before dying off, but not Henrietta’s. Her cells are able to replicate infinitely on just about any surface, allowing research and experiments to go on anywhere and in any environment. These experiments would have been impossible to conduct without Henrietta’s cells.
Millions of patients healed and dollars were made off of HeLa cells without the family knowing up until decades later.
In significant pain and without improvement, Lacks returned to Hopkins on August 8th for a treatment session, but asked to be admitted. She remained at the hospital until the day of her death. She received treatment and blood transfusions, but died of uremic poisoning on October 4, 1951 at the young age of 31. A subsequent partial autopsy showed that the cancer had metastasized throughout her entire body.
It wasn’t until 1971 (twenty years after they did it!), that her descendants first learned her genes had been sequenced and that the genome was made available to the public. But it took a number of years and in 2013, after a protracted fight, the family won the right to make the genome available only to scientists who apply, as well as to serve on a working group that will help review the applications.
They have never received any payment for Henrietta Lacks’s cells or any compensation from the profits that have come from the research done using her cells.
For decades, Henrietta Lacks’ mother had the only tombstone of the five graves in the family cemetery in Lackstown, and Henrietta’s own grave was unmarked. In 2010, however, Dr. Roland Pattillo of the Morehouse School of Medicine donated a headstone for Lacks after reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. The headstone is shaped like a book and reads:
Henrietta Lacks, August 01, 1920 – October 04, 1951.
In loving memory of a phenomenal woman, wife and mother who touched the lives of many.
Here lies Henrietta Lacks (HeLa). Her immortal cells will continue to help mankind forever.
Eternal Love and Admiration, From Your Family

Two Cincinnati-area men experienced dramatically different outcomes when they allegedly reached for fake guns this week during encounters with police.
Cincinnati police officers shot and killed 37-year-old Paul Gaston after he crashed his pickup about 5 p.m. Wednesday into a utility pole in the city’s Cheviot neighborhood, where 911 callers had reported an apparently intoxicated man waving a gun.
He exited the car, stumbled out, dropped the gun, picked up the gun and took off,” a 911 caller reported.
Witnesses said Gaston appeared to be disoriented when he got out of the crashed truck, and police ordered him to lie down on the pavement when they arrived shortly after the crash.
Video recorded by bystanders shows Gaston on his knees with his hands in the air as officers surround him with their guns drawn.
He lay down for a moment but rose up to his knees, and officers fired nine shots when they said he reached for a weapon that turned out to be an airsoft pellet gun.
Gaston was killed when he was struck by police gunfire.
About 18 hours earlier and less than 10 miles away, Mt. Healthy police encountered another man who pointed an airsoft pellet gun at them during a confrontation.
Officers were called about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday to a home to investigate an assault, and they said 26-year-old Christopher Laugle picked up a realistic-looking weapon from a coffee table inside the home and pointed it at the officers.
Police said the officers showed great restraint and did not shoot Laugle, who authorities said was taken into custody after a brief struggle.
The officers did not realize the gun was fake until after Laugle was arrested, according to the police report.
Laugle was charged with menacing and was jailed on $2,000 bond.
Gaston, the slain suspect, was black, and Laugle, who was arrested, is white.
The incidents involved two different police departments, but took place in Ohio — an open-carry state where a black man and black boy holding airsoft pellet guns were also killed during recent encounters with police.
No officers were charged in the 2014 shooting deaths of John Crawford III near Dayton or Tamir Rice in Cleveland.
Airsoft guns fire plastic balls that are larger and lighter than metal ball bearings fired by BB guns.
A clear cut example of white privileges, and why th black lives matter movement exists. We hear “don’t break the law, and you won’t get shot” well obviously that’s false for black people in this country. We have been minimized to target practice for police, and when we speak up and out against injustice, we are labeled as “Anti-Police”. When will it end?!?
Kerry Washington, Taye Diggs and Octavia Spencer are expected at the first American Black Film Festival Awards — organized in response to the Oscars’ snub of black performers.
The ABFF Awards in LA on Sunday will honor Diahann Carroll, Don Cheadle, Regina King, “Creed” director Ryan Coogler and Will Packer.
Carl Weathers, who played Apollo Creed in the “Rocky” films, will present the film category. The awards show will air on BET and Centric on Tuesday.
This is what we need to recognize and honor “us” when others don’t. We don’t need a Oscar to validate our talent and hardwork. We need exactly this platform by us, for us, to showcase our talents and achievements.
Be sure to tune in Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on BET and Centric as the American Black Film Festival, BET, and Black Enterprise host ABFF Awards, an annual gala saluting excellence in motion pictures and television.

Dr. Diane Harper was a leading expert responsible for the Phase II and Phase III safety and effectiveness studies which secured the approval of the human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccines, Gardasil™ and Cervarix™.
Dr. Harper also authored many of the published, scholarly papers about the vaccines. She is now the latest in a long string of experts who are pressing the red alert button on the devastating consequences and irrelevancy of these vaccines. Dr. Harper made her surprising confession at the 4th International Converence on Vaccination which took place in Reston, Virginia. Her speech, which was originally intended to promote the benefits of the vaccines, took a 180-degree turn when she chose instead to clean her conscience about the deadly vaccines so she “could sleep at night”. The following is an excerpt from a story by Sarah Cain:
“Dr. Harper explained in her presentation that the cervical cancer risk in the U.S. is already extremely low, and that vaccinations are unlikely to have any effect upon the rate of cervical cancer in the United States. In fact, 70% of all HPV infections resolve themselves without treatment in a year, and the number rises to well over 90% in two years. Harper also mentioned the safety angle. All trials of the vaccines were done on children aged 15 and above, despite them currently being marketed for 9-year-olds. So far, 15,037 girls have reported adverse side effects from Gardasil™ alone to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), and this number only reflects parents who underwent the hurdles required for reporting adverse reactions. At the time of writing, 44 girls are officially known to have died from these vaccines. The reported side effects include Guillian Barré Syndrome (paralysis lasting for years, or permanently — sometimes eventually causing suffocation), lupus, seizures, blood clots, and brain inflammation. Parents are usually not made aware of these risks. Dr. Harper, the vaccine developer, claimed that she was speaking out, so that she might finally be able to sleep at night. ’About eight in every ten women who have been sexually active will have HPV at some stage of their life,’ Harper says. ’Normally there are no symptoms, and in 98 per cent of cases it clears itself. But in those cases where it doesn’t, and isn’t treated, it can lead to pre-cancerous cells which may develop into cervical cancer.’”
Although these two vaccines are marketed as protection against cervical cancer, this claim is purely hypothetical. Studies have proven “there is no demonstrated relationship between the condition being vaccinated for and the rare cancers that the vaccine might prevent, but it is marketed to do that nonetheless. In fact, there is no actual evidence that the vaccine can prevent any cancer. From the manufacturers own admissions, the vaccine only works on 4 strains out of 40 for a specific venereal disease that dies on its own in a relatively short period, so the chance of it actually helping an individual is about about the same as the chance of her being struck by a meteorite.”
UPDATE #1: Since coming forward with the truth about the devastating consequences of the HPV vaccine, Dr. Harper has been victim of a relentless campaign attempting to discredit the validity of her claims. Harper was even misquoted by British tabloid The Sunday Express which printed a false story loaded with fabricated quotations attributed to Harper. In an interview with The Guardian, Harper makes it very clear about what exactly she said in order to protect herself from a potential lawsuit. In an interview with CBS NEWS, Harper clarifies her position, and once again makes it crystal clear just how devastating this vaccine can be: “If we vaccinate 11 year olds and the protection doesn’t last … we’ve put them at harm from side effects, small but real, for no benefit,” says Dr. Harper. “The benefit to public health is nothing, there is no reduction in cervical cancers, they are just postponed, unless the protection lasts for at least 15 years, and over 70% of all sexually active females of all ages are vaccinated.” She also says that enough serious side effects have been reported after Gardasil use that the vaccine could prove riskier than the cervical cancer it purports to prevent. Cervical cancer is usually entirely curable when detected early through normal Pap screenings.
“Parents and women must know that deaths occurred,” Harper tells CBS NEWS. “Not all deaths that have been reported were represented in Dr. Slade’s work, one-third of the death reports were unavailable to the CDC, leaving the parents of the deceased teenagers in despair that the CDC is ignoring the very rare but real occurrences that need not have happened if parents were given information stating that there are real, but small risks of death surrounding the administration of Gardasil.” She also worries that Merck’s aggressive marketing of the vaccine may have given women a false sense of security. “The future expectations women hold because they have received free doses of Gardasil purchased by philanthropic foundations, by public health agencies or covered by insurance is the true threat to cervical cancer in the future. Should women stop Pap screening after vaccination, the cervical cancer rate will actually increase per year. Should women believe this is preventive for all cancers — something never stated, but often inferred by many in the population — a reduction in all health care will compound our current health crisis. Should Gardasil not be effective for more than 15 years, the most costly public health experiment in cancer control will have failed miserably.” Harper notes that her concern for the vaccine’s deadly side effects applies only to women in the Western world. ”Of course, in developing countries where there is no safety Pap screening for women repeatedly over their lifetimes, the risks of serious adverse events may be acceptable as the incidence rate of cervical cancer is five to 12 times higher than in the US, dwarfing the risk of death reported after Gardasil.”
UPDATE #2: The National Vaccine Information Center HAS CONFIRMED two virologists, Stephen Krahling and Joan Wlochowski have filed a lawsuit against their former employer and vaccine manufacturer Merck. NVIC writes: “The lawsuit alleges that Merck defrauded the U.S. for over 10 years by overstating the MMR vaccine’s effectivenes. The virologists claim in their lawsuit that they ‘Witnessed firsthand the improper testing and data falseification in which Merck engaged to artificially inflate the vaccine’s efficacy findings.” NVIC president and co-founder, Barbara Loe Fisher, warns of the disturbingly cozy relationship and overwhelming conflict of interest between federal agencies charged with vaccine safety oversight (such as the Centers for Disease Control) and vaccine manufacturers. Merck’s global vaccine sales total more than $20 BILLION A YEAR.
As the world’s pharmaceutical giants continue to be driven less by moral accountability and more by profit and shareholder-driven bottom lines, we are going to see more and more products such as this vaccine which are marketed as “essential to one’s survival.” While some vaccines are indeed essential, such as vaccines for polio and measles, the HPV vaccine is a new beast entirely. To learn more about how pharmaceutical giants are putting profits ahead of ethics you need to watch FRONTLINE’s terrifying new documentary “Hunting The Nightmare Bacteria.”
So many vaccines, from the MMR vaccine being linked to autism, the polio vaccine causing cancer and now this?!?! Beware of what you allow in your body.

East Huntingdon Township, Pennsylvania. The problem: A Confederate flag display with a black baby doll hanging from a noose with a knife in its back.
Rachel Szolek was driving through West Overton Village when she saw the racially offensive display on a fence near on someone’s property.
“We actually turned around because we had passed the house,” Szolek told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4. “And there it was, and the first thing was shock.”
-An Open Letter to Confederate Flag Defenders: Racism is Real-
Szolek took a photo of the display with her cell phone and posted the image to Facebook.
Action News 4 reporter Beau Berman got wind of the story and tracked down East Huntingdon Township’s supervisor Paul Hodgkiss.
-Quentin Tarantino: Confederate Flag is the ‘American Swastika’-
Hodgkiss said that he was “definitely against anything like that in our township.”
Officials in a nearby community admitted that they have been hearing about the display for months but could not do anything about it because the area was outside their jurisdiction.
-Confederate Flag Supporter Asked About his FUBU Sneakers-
The display was eventually taken down minutes after Berman knocked on the homeowner’s door to ask questions.
The CDC has admitted that between 1955–1963 over 98 million Americans received one or more doses of a polio shot which was contaminated with a cancer-causing virus called Simian vacuolating virus 40 (SV40). The CDC quickly took down the page, along with Google, but the site was luckily cached and saved to symbolize this grand admission.
To further confirm this unbelievable admission, Assistant Professor of Pathology at Loyola University in Chicago Dr. Michele Carbone has been able to independently verify the presence of the SV40 virus in tissue and bone samples from patients who died during that era. He found that 33% of the samples with osteosarcoma bone cancers, 40% of other bone cancers, and 60% of the mesothelioma’s lung cancers all contained this obscure virus. This leaves the postulation that upwards of 10–30 million actually contracted and were adversely affected by this virus, to be deadly accurate.
Source – Polio Vaccine linked to cancer
This is very disturbing to me as it should be to everyone. Too many vaccines have been proven to be linked to diseases and experimental it’s extremely negligent and intentional.
Now, certain states have put policies in place making vaccines mandatory – forcing them on people. We should have a choice about what we allow in our bodies. I’m not comfortable being left to trust what’s in a syringe I have no way of verifying what it is or if it’s safe. We are being poisoned daily as a method of population control. Be mindful and ask questions before being injected with any substance.
Supreme Court justice Antonin Scalia recently passed away February 13th of this year, which has created a frenzy in the political world. The importance of selecting a new Supreme Court justice to replace him, has many nervous about the direction that lies ahead for the powers that be. Republicans currently running for the next presidency have spoke out against President Obama selecting the new Supreme Court Justice, and vowed to block any nominee he chooses.
It really boils down to cases currently pending in the Supreme Court and is a huge tug of war between conservatives and liberals on who will take the seat. Justice Scalia was a known conservative and his passing has made the scale even between liberals and conservatives currently holding seats. Whoever is chosen will give either party a majority position in the court.
“There are those who contend that it does not benefit African Americans to get into the University of Texas where they do not do well, as opposed to having them go to a less-advanced school, a slower-track school, where they do well,” Scalia said. He cited a brief that, he said, “pointed out that most of the black scientists in this country don’t come from schools like the University of Texas. They come from lesser schools” where they do not feel they’re being pushed in classes “that are too fast for them.”
Of course I was insulted and very bothered by his comments, and I’m pleasantly pleased his seat is up for grabs. Of course it’s unfortunate when anyone passes suddenly and unexpectedly. My condolences to his family. It will be very interesting to see who replaces him as his replacement stands to serve for many years in the Supreme Court.
