TINA KNOWLES – HER PERSONAL STORY

Ever wonder how mega superstar BEYONCÉ was created and built? Her parents are the force that made her into who and what she is today. In this video below, Tina Knowles tells her personal story in this keynote speech about struggle, her marriage to Mathew Knowles, and many more intimate details about her life that will both inspire, and may even surprise you. 1) She was treated horribly in Catholic school:

The nuns picked on us a lot, my family. I didn’t understand at the time but my mom did the altar cloths. She did the altar boys’ uniforms. She worked for the nuns. My dad chauffeured the nuns around. My brothers cleaned the school yard.

And I often wondered why we were indentured servants to the church. And the nuns were very hard on me. They would always say, ‘You really don’t belong here. If you only knew, you’d be very grateful to be here. You’ve got a rebellious spirit. We need to take down that spirit and control it.’

It was always these things to kinda put me in my place. What I found out late was that my parents were bartering so I can go.

I became a warrior at five. I refused to let them take my spirit.

2) She used be a makeup artist and even modeled at one point.

I didn’t know what I wanted to be [after school]. I just knew I wanted to get out of Galveston [Texas] and I wanted to do something related to beauty. Something about making women feel good about themselves. So I went to California and I actually got a job as a makeup artist for a Japanese company, which was really funny because everyone was Japanese but me. I went on to work at Worldwide Health Studio and I worked there for three years. I lived in Denver. I did a little modeling. I learned how to walk in heels.

3) She got married, lost her mother, nearly lost her father and became pregnant within the span of a year.
I met my husband [Mathew Knowles] and got married. I was so excited about my dad walking me down the aisle and he had a heart attack the day before we got married. He had a minor heart attack. So we all went to the hospital after the wedding and brought the wedding party and he was rushing us out and we left.

And the next day we’re supposed to go to the honeymoon but we missed the flight. So I called back and they said, ‘Oh your dad’s in intensive care, he’s had a massive heart attack.’ My dad was really bad and I decided to stay so my ex-husband could go back to the house because his parents were in town. And he calls me crying and he says his grandfather has died.

By Wednesday, my daddy is stable enough so I can go to [my husband’s grandfather’s] funeral. So I go to the funeral on Thursday and when I got back on Friday, my mom was in intensive care. It was really a tough time. I have to say my ex-husband said, ‘You know, you don’t have to work. You can go and take care of your parents,’ which I treasure to this day because within six months my mom had passed away. Then I was pregnant!

4) She opened her hair salon as a way to be independent, especially since her marriage had gotten bad and she promised to never give up on herself.

For four years I didn’t work, I just kept my daughter. And then things just got really rocky and my marriage got very tumultuous and I was having all these problems and I was like, “‘What have I done? I’ve been out of the job market for four years.’ Self-esteem low, so what do I do now? During that time, I had started beauty school and I had maybe three months to last with that.

But after I got pregnant, my marriage just got really bad and I knew I had to do something. So I got very focused on going to school. And by the time I had the baby, I already had a clientele. I built a salon at my house and I’d do hair there.

Eight weeks after I had my baby, I took her to her paternal grandmother and I said, ‘Listen, you gotta keep her ’cause I gotta open up a business,’ because I would never be in this position again. I would never be totally dependent on someone. I would never give up on myself.

5) She caused Destiny’s Child [then known as Destiny] to lose their first record deal.

The first deal that they [Destiny’s Child] had, I was the first person to open my big mouth to the people that signed them. The guy told me, “‘Well, this is going to change their lives and you should stop being so square. You should stop being so protective, and get with it.’ Because they were actually exposing the girls to things that I just didn’t feel were appropriate for them to be so young.

Well he ended up telling me to get out of his office, take the kids home and don’t bring them back. So I’m devastated because I have to go and tell these kids I messed up their deal. So I end up doing that and God just showed up because in three months, they got a way bigger, better deal.

6) She suffered from low self-esteem after filing for divorce at age 58, after being married for 33 years.

I was very sad. When you look at someone else, you look at them and say, ‘They’re attractive. They have a lot of good stuff going on for them. They have no right to have low self-esteem. They have no right to feel sorry for themselves.’ Well, it doesn’t matter who you are, what you are, what you’ve done, what you have. You’re a person; you’re a human being. And when something strikes you like that, it takes the breath out of you. And my fight came back! After a while, I let myself feel sorry for myself for a minute and then I said, ‘You know, I’m so blessed to have all the opportunities that I have. And I don’t have the right to feel sorry.’ I started telling myself this.

7) She took some much-needed time off for herself after the divorce to live and enjoy life.

I started reading my art books. I love art but I had never had the time. I started traveling. I would travel with my daughter [Beyoncé] but not to work! I would say, ‘No I’m not working.’ I had my girlfriend who would make me laugh. I sent for her and she would come on the road and we would go to museums, we would go to lunch and we would just laugh. And I just really had forgotten how to live. I had just lost all of myself so I realize now that part of the low self-esteem was, yes, being 58 and having to start over again, and the other part is that I just lost myself. That I was so busy working and going and taking care of everybody else that I just forgot about Tina.

So I would tell my kids, ‘You know what, you can call me and I’ll be there if it’s something important, but otherwise, I’m taking care of Tina. This is my selfish moment.’ And before I knew it, I started liking me again! I started being important, not everybody else.

8) She didn’t think she could find love again at 59 years old.

The whole thing about dating was the scariest thing in the world! I would tell my friends, ‘Where am I gonna find somebody at 59 years old? Where do you meet men? Where do you get them? And they’re all gone.’ It was really funny so I just focused on myself.

Finally, a girl that worked with me said, ‘This guy I know wants to take you out. He just thinks you’re hot!’ And I’m like, ‘Really?!’ So she said, ‘Yes!’

My kids got me ready, and I changed clothes five times. I didn’t want to be too this and too that.

Well, I went out with the guy and he was a very, very nice man and thank God he wasn’t my type because I wasn’t as nervous once I met him. So I was like, ‘You know what, this is just like friend time.’ But it was so good for my self-esteem to have somebody to say, ‘You look nice!’ To give me a flower, to take me out. So I went out on a couple of dates with him but I knew he wasn’t the one. But it got me past that [point in my life.]

9) Even though she didn’t want Mathew Knowles back it still hurt her when he got remarried.

I hear that my ex-husband is getting married. Now this is my family. My ex-husband is my family. I don’t want to get back into that at all, that’s not what I want. But it still hurts a little bit, right? It’s still a blow to your ego. So I call my crazy friend Monica to take care of me the week of the wedding.

[…] She comes to LA and she says, ‘Tina, you gotta get out ..let’s go out! Let’s go see some men!’ and I was like, ‘I don’t know where to find ‘em!’

10) She was friends with her current boyfriend, actor Richard Lawson, for 33 years before they began dating.

I been knowing him for 33 years. His sister was one of my best friends, and she died of breast cancer 20 years ago. Some of you might remember him as the handsome guy who was on Dynasty, and he was an actor and he was on All My Children. I brought him down [to Texas] one time, and the women went crazy over him. He’s an old friend, like family.

So Monica called him up and we went by his acting school and he took us out to eat afterwards and my friend says, ‘Okay Richard! Do you know any men?!’ And he’s like, ‘Well, what she looking for?’ So I say, ‘You know, I want somebody with integrity, that believes in God, that likes to dance, likes to have fun and appreciates art.’ And he’s like, ‘Oh! What about me?’ And we both say, ‘Hell no!’ So he says, ‘Okay, well, I’ll see who I can think of.’

So the next night he took us out dancing and we just had a good time. The next night he came to the concert and he said, ‘Can we just get away from Monica? ‘Cause Monica just takes over the conversation.’ So we went to lunch and he said, ‘I want to support you during this time,’ because Mathew — he’s friends with Mathew, too — just got married yesterday. So he came to Houston, I went to LA afterwards and it’s been now a year and five months and I’m in a committed relationship with that handsome man! And I’m in my happiest I been in a long, long time.

She also added a very important lesson:

I just have to say that, most of the times in my life that things have been the toughest and the worst and I thought I would die and not get through them, they turned out to be the best times. If you are going through it, just know it’s called ‘going through it,’ you’re not going to get stuck there, you are not going to die, you are going to survive. My daughter wrote a song called ‘Survivor’ some years ago and it’s my favorite song by them because it says, ‘When the times get bad, I’m going to work harder. I’m going to keep pushing and I’m going to keep positive and make it happen because I’m a survivor.’ That’s been the story of my life.

G-Unit is back! This conversation about “Changes” is interesting given the rocky history between 50 Cent, Tony Yayo, Lloyd Banks & Young Buck…yet to see them reunited is refreshing. Does having an abundance of money change the person, or the people around them? I would say it’s definitely a combination of both. The rich and famous are targets for opportunists…especially when they flaunt their wealth and lifestyle for attention. It becomes difficult to filter who has a genuine interest in you or just a monetary one. Everyone is a suspect and the game changes. A smoke screen of lies and manipulation become normal activity. Sounds like the “Good Life” right…?

VITILIGO BEAUTY – MODEL CHANTELLE BROWN

When Chantelle Brown-Young was in second grade, she first realized her life would not be like everyone else’s.

“I had just changed schools and befriended two girls who abruptly stopped talking to me after a few months,” said Brown-Young, 19, who has vitiligo that causes lighter patches to form on her darker skin. “I asked them why and they said their parents told them not to play with me because they could catch my skin condition. I explained it’s not contagious but not everybody is going to understand.”

These days, that difference is being heralded. The Toronto native has launched a modeling career and is a contestant on the new season of “America’s Next Top Model,” Tyra Banks’ reality-TV show, which premiered Aug. 18 on the CW Network.

Brown-Young’s career success comes at a time when differences in appearance are being celebrated by an industry that has historically valued typical beauty. London-based Ugly Models agency, for example, thrives on placing models with unusual looks in marketing campaigns.

Diagnosed with vitiligo at age 4, Brown-Young said, “It didn’t affect me so much when I was growing up because my family treated me as Chantelle with vitiligo. They didn’t really teach me about my skin growing up.”

In middle school and high school, she was called “cow,” “zebra,” “a lot of mean things. I started to go through puberty. You’re already having changes you don’t understand, plus this skin condition that I didn’t ask for that has to do with other people’s opinions and other people’s bullying.”

That all changed when she was 16 and was discovered by a Toronto photographer who encouraged her to model. “I was at the age still that I was worried about other people’s thoughts but I was trying to get out of thinking that way, to think about myself and that I should love myself … I was just growing into myself.”

From there, she tried to catch the eye of Tyra Banks. “I posted pictures on Instagram of all my modeling work. When I was really proud of a picture, I would ask my followers to tag her in those pictures … An assistant to the show basically told me that Tyra Banks was really interested in having me on the show.”

Brown-Young auditioned and learned that all her hard work had paid off: she was offered a spot on the show, in which model hopefuls compete for a career-launching prize package that includes a contract with Next Model Management.

“I was ecstatic because I never thought that modeling would be something that was any type of career,” Brown-Young said.

To summon confidence, she created an alter ego. “Chantelle Winnie is my birth name,” she said. “Chantelle Winnie Harlow, I call her my Sasha Fierce [Beyonce’s alter ego]. She comes out when it’s time to work, time to model. She’s an extra boost of confidence or diva. I feel like I have her with me everywhere I go.”

She hopes others will learn to feel beautiful while looking different.

“I definitely hope and I feel that I am inspiring, but I don’t like the word role model. I feel like people put too much on the title of a role model … you should be careful what you choose to see as a role model, whereas inspiration can come from anywhere.

“The only person that can make you feel that you aren’t beautiful is you. You can’t let someone else lower your self-esteem because that’s what it is — self-esteem, you need to first love yourself before you have anybody else love you.”

There have been questions about his sexuality since he often refers to other men as “lover” “hubby” “bae” “babe”. You get the drift. Then at the same time claims to have a girlfriend…lover…whatever the fudge! SHERRI SHEPHARD’S EX LAMAR SALLY SPEAKS ABOUT HIS RELATIONSHIP AND SERVES UP THE TEA

Lamar Sally has opened up about the birth of his son, Lamar Sally Jr, and the ugly split from Sherri Shepherd that he says put him on welfare!

Sooooo…Sherri Shepherd’s pre-nup must not have included a “confidentiality” clause because Lamar Sally is talking! A lot. In an exclusive with the Daily Mail, he’s spilling all the tea about his doomed marriage to the ex co-host of “The View” (whom he revealed earned a salary of $3 million). This is HIS story.

The tea:

On Sherri’s desire to be a mom:

Actually, that is one of the reasons we married after only a year – because she was ready to do this. I wanted to wait another year or two to get married but having a baby with me was so important to her I said OK, let’s do it.’

On meeting Sherri during game night at Neicy Nash’s house:

‘I liked that Sherri was really down to earth. ‘She didn’t seem like she was one of those Hollywood-type women who was high maintenance and when they played the game ‘Taboo’ she was competitive and I loved that about her too.

‘We didn’t get together that night but Niecy told me that Sherri wanted me to call her so I did and we talked for six hours.’

On why they needed a surrogate:

“Sally continues, ‘We got the bad news that the doctors found none of her eggs were viable. I told her that we should try again but when she said she didn’t want to and that we should use my sperm and get a surrogate.”

On why they split:

‘To this day, I cannot pinpoint one thing that caused us to split up,’ he tells MailOnline..’Honestly I do not know what happened. No one was cheating, we didn’t fight much and we didn’t have money problems.’

On Sherri’s expenses:

“Boy, could she buys some shoes! Sherri is a shopaholic for shoes. I would say her average American Express bill was $25,000 and although she did buy things for Jeffrey it was mostly dresses and a ton of shoes for herself.

She shopped excessively but refused to balance a checkbook. Sherri made $3 million last year but she didn’t know how much she has in the bank.

‘She is obsessed with her career. She is always worried about the next step and if one little thing goes wrong she falls into what I like to say is ‘gloom and doom’ attitude.”

On why he took control of Sherri’s finances:

“But what was really shocking to me was that she didn’t know her salary! When we decided to get married we started to discuss our finances, our bills and how we were going to run the household. So I asked her how much money does she make on ‘The View’ and she said she didn’t know!

‘That blew me away. I asked her, “OK, but you had to sign your W-2 for taxes, what did they say?” and she said she didn’t know, that she just signed them.

‘Sherri has a business manager, who paid all of her bills for her so she had no idea how much was coming in or how much was going out. After we got married that all changed. I made sure the bills were paid on time and I kept Sherri up to speed on what was going on.

‘I was upset about this so I made her sit down and watch the regular series ‘American Greed’ on TV so she could see how easily people can get ripped off.

‘I wanted her to be more responsible and aware of the household finances. I am very good with money, I have always put myself on a budget so it was irritating to me that she doesn’t take care of business. When we got married I ran the house and put my own career on hold.”

Is Sherri a hoarder?

“‘Sherri was also a very messy person. She was a pack-rat. I always had to go behind her and pick up after her and that was so annoying to me.”

Sherri’s trust issues:

“Sherri has a lot of trust issues that she brought into this marriage from her relationship with her ex-husband, Jeffrey,’ Sally explains.

‘I tried to prove to Sherri that I am not her ex-husband or any of the other guys who have been in her life and for a while we would be OK. But then a few days later we were back to square one and it was exhausting.

‘She wanted to be married but we kept most of our finances separate. We did have one bank account together but it was modest amount.

‘Sherri also didn’t want me to work outside of our marriage because she kept saying I was going to get rich and leave her high and dry. That was a never-ending discussion at home and with her therapist the entire time we were married.”

His claims that Sherri wanted a house husband:

“She wanted me to be happy being a house-husband, but when I told her I needed to work for my own sanity she got angry.

‘Sherri didn’t understand why I didn’t want to just stay at home and take care of the kids, Jeffrey and the new baby on the way.

‘She even talked to our friends about it, asking what was wrong with me, why I wouldn’t be happy just being at home while she worked.”

On the Divorce proceedings:

“Out of the blue, Sherri asked for a divorce while we were at a session with the therapist. She said she didn’t think she could be the kind of wife I needed her to be. ‘But I thought she was just in one of her moods and would change her mind in a couple of days, like she does everything else. ‘There were times when Sherri wanted us to work on projects together and then the very next day she would change her mind and say, ‘NO! I don’t want to work with you.’

‘This went on throughout our marriage, one day she’s on and the next she’s off. So when she asked for a divorce I just left it alone and expected her to say she didn’t mean it and let’s get back to work. ‘I stayed in the house for another two weeks and we were going along like nothing had changed.

‘But then I found out through some friends that Sherri had hired two attorneys and was getting ready to file for divorce.

‘I was shocked, never saw it coming and I was really hurt and confused — still am.”

If you’re wondering how Sal wound up on welfare, he said that because Sherri’s name isn’t on the birth certificate, the baby is not on her insurance. He was forced to go on Medi-cal, California’s welfare program for infant’s health insurance.

All I gotta say is ninja PLEASE! If he don’t knock it off with this BS! I can’t and I won’t. Bye Mr./Mrs. SHEPHARD. You need more people boo.

AMBER ROSE IS DIVORCING WIZ KHALIFA

Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose are headed for divorce, according to a TMZ report published Tuesday.

Divorce documents obtained by TMZ indicate that Rose filed for divorce from the rapper, citing irreconcilable differences.

TMZ reports that there is no mention of infidelity in the divorce papers, despite rumors of romance between Rose and Mariah Carey’s estranged husband, Nick Cannon. That speculation was sparked after Cannon recently signed the 30-year-old model to his management company, NCredible Entertainment.

Khalifa and Rose welcomed a son, Sebastian, in February 2013 and married in July 2013. According to the documents, Rose is asking for full legal and physical custody of Sebastian.

Daaaaammmnnn Son! Y’all know Nick is smashing that thang to smithereens *smh* both going through divorce, that good ole comfort lovin. She better watch out though, I can tell this might just be a hot ass mess in the making. Oh well, Kanye is probably grinning like a Cheshire Cat right now at all this.
